A very nice but VERY inexpensive wedding place in Southern California?

We are thinking of getting married in July 2011– but the budget is very, very tight (he is on his first job and I will have spent the year prior as a volunteer in Africa). We are trying to keep the wedding under ,000… which I am realizing is difficult! But I really want a beautiful wedding and I also want to be able to invite more than my immediate family.
If you have any specific recommendations on venues in southern California and how much you believe it costs, that would be perfect. In fact, if you can give me a price range for an inexpensive wedding anywhere, I might consider a domestic destination wedding, haha.
I am also happy to get recommendations for vendors [caterers, photographers, etc.] and ideas for a unique wedding!
Thanks!
I am from the LA area [Inland Empire], but I would be willing to travel anywhere that is nice. It doesn’t really matter where because many of the guests are having to travel anyway!

You know, Big Sur is a BEAUTIFUL national park. There are TONS of scenic places you could get married. Actually, there are even ceremonial places already set up throughout the park. While camping is available, there are also accomodations there too. I think it would be a great place for a wedding, and imagine it would be affordable, too.
