Welcome Bags for Destination Wedding?
We are making welcome bags for our destination wedding to London and trying to get a general list down. As part of the wedding we are paying an 8 day trip in England (some of these things might sound a little much for a shorter stay, so they are all going on the same plane ride) They will be slightly modified for each person but we are trying to get a general list down, what else are we missing (perhaps something that I don't know about London in April that would need to be included)?
Plane kits *very small brown paper bag*:
1. Bottled water
2. Granola Bar
3. Small bag of chips
4. Ipod Nano (we are trying to pre load music that we know our guests will like for each person, this is their favor as well)
5. Sleeping Mask
6. Deck of cards
7. Travel games (for the children)
8. Travel wet ones
At the hotel *Large travel tote*:
1. Itinerary
2. Guide of the London, city walks deck
3. Shampoo, lotion, soap, and shaving kit (my family has a habit of expecting them at the hotel, but there is a big difference in the products that they are used to and the ones in the hotel)
4. Travel tooth brush, in case it is forgotten, & tooth paste
5. Small travel alarm clock (none in the room, you are expected to book wake up calls)
6. Umbrella *doubling as their second favor*
7. Hand sanitizer
8. Oyster card (card that allows you to take the subway, bus etc)
9. London Pass card ( http://www.londonpass.com/attractionsFullList.asp )
10. Map of tube
11. First aide kit
12. Sewing kit
13. Disposable Digital Camera
14. Wet Ones
15. Pay as you go cell phone with 300 minutes (100 international, 200 local so they can keep in touch with back home, and with other family members during the week without getting a bunch of international fees)
16. Outlet converter
17. Sunscreen

Sounds great, Kathleen! Very, very thoughtful.
Haven't seen you on here in a while…great to "see" you!
can you invite me? that sounds like a great gift bag
Sounds really good.
Looks very good and very well thought out. However, leave out the bottle of water…Can't get it through security (at least not here in the States) unless it is under 3.4 oz (which would be a VERY small bottle of water!)
I truly think you have it all covered! Its an amazinf idea to do somethign like that!
Maybe more snacks for the kids on the plane ride
Bandaids for the others incase of blisters while waking around
But you really have it all!
Have a great time!
OMG. ARE U RICH?
all that for the guests????????
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!
Invite ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow - these are very nice welcome and travel bags!
for the airplane bag, it might be nice to get everyone a magazine that you think they would enjoy - you could even do this in leiu of the cards.
I would put personalized notes in the welcome bag - just thanking them for coming and letting them know how much it means to you to have them their with you.
You are a very generous bride. What a thoughtful gift for your guests. I don't have many recommendations as you have pretty much thought of everything yourself. I especially love the umbrella (because London is so rainy) and the outlet converter. The latter is ingenious! Everyone will need one, but almost no one will anticipate it.
How about a pen and paper? I know it sounds simple, but very rarely do people bring those items with them and there are about a million reasons why they'd need them. They can be decorative or simple, your choice. You could also subtract a few of the items from the large or small tote and add UK currency. Not much, maybe ten pounds or so (depending how many guests you have) just to get them started.
Enjoy your wedding!
I wanna come!!
Holy shit. You must have a lot of money to spend on this wedding.
I really can't think of anything else. You pretty much have it covered. Maybe binoculars for sightseeing? I really can't think of anything else, sorry. Did you have sunglasses?
I did like the idea of the pen and paper, I seem to always need it when I am out and never have any. LOL. I will edit if I think of something.
Let me tell you, the Oyster card idea is pure genius! Most first time visitors will have no idea of what it is, or how necessary it'll be.
For the plane, earplugs would be nice, although most airlines will supply them.
Once in town, I'd suggest copies of the Time Out magazine so they can plan shows, find restaurants, internet cafes, etc; as well as a typed out piece of paper welcoming them which includes London current info, such as the new public transport drinking ban (people party = people tend to drink, you don't want them to get into trouble!), and shops opening hours (some may need to buy some last minute items).
And a small notebook and pens would be nice, and maybe some stamps and envelopes in case they want to write/send postcards.
That said, your welcome bags sound awesome anyway! Congrats!
You are extremely generous and going above and beyond for your guests. I don't think there is anything else you need to add since you seem to have all bases covered.
Didn't you ask this same question like a month ago? I think you just like to hear people say You must be rich
How about aspirin/Tylenol in those little single dose packets?
